Other Tools Modules

While these modules don't directly address FAA Part 5 requirements, they are included in the Part 5 Automation Tool to help you achieve compliance and performance.

Gap Analysis Module to Identify Deficiencies

What is the Gap Analysis Module

A gap analysis is a process that airline and airport SMS programs use to understand how their current SMS program compares to an ideal state. The differences between your SMS program and your ideal state are the "gaps." In other words, you use a gap analysis to determine which areas of your SMS program need to be focused on. It helps answer two questions:

  • Where are we?
  • Where do we want to be?

The Part 5 Automation Tool™ has the most sophisticated gap analysis tools of any of the aviation safety management software systems.

The gap analysis allows airlines and airports to conduct a self-audit against a set of FAA best practices. After completing the gap analysis, the safety management team will prepare an SMS implementation plan that addresses the shortcomings.

Benefits of Gap Analysis Module
