While these modules don't directly address FAA Part 5 requirements, they are included in the Part 5 Automation Tool to help you achieve compliance and performance.

Implementation Plan to Monitor SMS Implementation

What is the Implementation Plan Module

While the FAA no longer formally requires an implementation - they simply require that you have an SMS program - it none the less remains a vital tool for ensuring that your SMS program is compliant, performing, and has all needed elements to conduct safe operations. The Implementation Plan Manager module is a structured approach to implementing elements of your SMS program.

Using a structured approach to implementing your SMS system is not only convenient, but necessary. Since full SMS implementation is expected to take several years, you can expect employee turnovers, resistance to change, changing environmental and operating conditions and perhaps different SMS auditors. For that reason, your SMS system implementation will have to be very well documented and follow a plan.

The Implementation Plan Manager module easily provides such documentation. It a straightforward and user friendly way to track, update, and review your implementation progress.

Benefits of Implementation Plan Manager Module

This module is used to address two questions: Where is your SMS program, and where do you want it to be? Gap analysis are one of the best tools to discover where you need to focus your efforts on improvement.

In this module you can:

  • Start, pause, and resume gap analysis based on two different FAA templates;
  • View previously performed gab analysis;
  • See scores and/or improvement reports for each gap analysis; and
  • And include detailed notes for each analysis.

Features of Implementation Plan Manager

Here are the primary features you can use with this module to implement elements of your SMS program:

  • Keep track of the status of each step and easily view the status;
  • Customize the SMS implementation steps. Add/edit/reorder them to suit your needs;
  • Set targeted start dates and finish dates;
  • Allow internal and external auditors to review and leave remarks; and
  • Documentation is in one central location.

Various implementation elements are color coded depending how they have been marked by you.
